BEST 2.0 Programme

Call for Proposals:

BEST 2.0 Small Grants 2017

Call Closed

Regions: Caribbean, Pacific, South Atlantic, Indian Ocean and Polar/Sub-polar

The BEST 2.0 Programme is a funding facility, supported by the European Commission (DG DEVCO) as part of the EU Biodiversity for Life (B4Life) flagship. It aims to promote the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of ecosystem services, including ecosystem-based approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation, as a basis for sustainable development in Europe's Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) (see map below).

As a grant scheme, BEST 2.0 organises calls for proposals in order to fund actions on the ground, both at the local and regional level (please see the calendar at the top right of this page for the timing of the calls for proposals).

Projects supported by BEST 2.0 can target one or more of the EU OCTs. The BEST 2.0 grant can only be used to cover costs related to actions implemented in the OCTs.

Regional projects involving actions in the OCTs may also involve actions in EU Outermost Regions and/or independent neighboring countries, but these actions cannot be covered by the BEST 2.0 funds. In this case projects must have additional financing to cover the cost of actions implemented in EU Outermost Regions and/or independent neighboring countries.

Two types of grants - based on the amount of funding requested - are available through BEST 2.0: Small Grants and Medium Grants.

More information on the BEST Initiative can be found on the BEST homepage and further details about BEST 2.0 can be found in this presentation.
